March News!

A wee bit later than usual, but here's our latest newsletter! This month, we have news about NAB, OffShoot, Canister, and Arctic.

NAB

A week from now, the yearly trek to Vegas starts again. With Central Hall being renovated this year, the most fun is again to be found in South Lower. In our booth SL12707, we'll be showing a bunch of new features and workflows. Coming to Vegas? Don't be a stranger - we really, really want to meet every single one of you đź‘‹

It's always busy at our booth so don't miss out; book a meeting in advance!

Releasing for macOS vs Windows

This month saw two big releases, for Offshoot and Canister. This time, we've done things a bit differently: instead of waiting until both the Windows and macOS teams wrap up their work, we're now releasing as soon as either is done. That gets you new features earlier, and in return we get to learn about how you use them much earlier on. We'll continue with this for the rest of the year; sometimes, a Mac release will come first, sometimes its Windows' equivalent.

In both cases, there's a Beta Track available for macOS so all of you can already take a sneek peak.

Cascading and Queuing

Based on your feedback, it's often pretty clear what the next big thing is that you need us to work on. For OffShoot, that is cascading transfers - being able to copy to a fast destination first, before cascading that data to other drives. This frees up your sources considerably faster. Read all about it in the Cascading blog:

Cascading

On the LTO archiving end of the spectrum, queueing transfers from multiple sources to one or more tape drives is a massive time saver. Queuing transfers is now available to all Canister Windows users, and the second Beta has dropped for macOS users; grab it here.

Arctic's First Year

Risen from the ashes of Final Cut Library Manager, Arctic has seen superfast adoption within its first year. For a not-for-profit project, that's really amazing to see. Luckily, most of you were very happy that we adopted this little app and understood that changing its licensing model was needed to keep FCLM around. Thank you all for your support—you keep this app from having to become a subscription.

We'll soon release Arctic 25.2, the 11th release in just over a year. Keep an eye on your inbox, as it'll come with a sweet deal for all FCLM and Arctic users!

Coming Soon

Besides the aforementioned Cascading and Queuing releases for all macOS users, a new EditReady and FoolCat release is around the corner. With support for SONY's Burano Ver.2 firmware for both macOS and Windows, the latter also getting ProRes RAW support and auto-converting to Rec. 709.

PostLab is about to gain support for even more apps, Canister Pro gets a Migrate feature, and Mimiq Pro users will soon see some super helpful Workspace management features for teams. If you're around, we'll be showing all of this at NAB.

See you in April âśŚď¸Ź

Best,
